Transportation:

Competitors may take various routes of bus direct to Ma On Shan Centre or maxicab No. 810 from Satin Town Centre.

Competitors may take ferries departing from Wong Shek Pier and Ma Liu Shui to Ko Lau Wan, and proceed to Event Centre on foot. Please refer to plan attached

Bus will be provide to and fro Event Centre at the specifiedtimes.

Event Centre:

Event Centre is located at Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village.

 

There is toilet near Event Centre.

 

First Aid and Physiotherapy services will be provided at Event Centre.

Event Centre is located at football pitch at Tan Ka Wan. It takes 20 minutes from Ko Lau Wan Pier to Event Centre, signs will be erected along the way.

Competition Area & Map Information

Most of the competition area comprises openland and building which is runnable.

 

No water point will be setup.

 

Most of the competition area comprises open grassland which is runnable

.

There are cattle within the competition area.  Do not frighten them!

 

Please wear long-sleeve clothing to prevent from being injured by thick vegetation.

 

Water will be provided as location will be shown on the map or control description.

 

There has been a hill fire happened at the western part of the competition area recently and the affected area will be mapped as open land.

 

The map is in 2004 updated version,

The competition area is mainly rough open land, with a white forest at the south.

 

Be aware that ditches are not filled in the map.

 

Beware that there are areas with loosen soil and/or stones.

 

Slippery/Steep slopes and gullies are common. Some are over 2m deep!

 

It is highly recommended that competitors put on long-sleeve clothing to avoid thorns.

 

 

Course Information:

 

Time Limit is 60 minutes.

 

Length, Climb, Expected Winning Time

For H21 class, there will be a star orienteering format arranged in the middle of the courses. Competitors are required to visit the same control several times during the competition according to the following example(abstracted from the Event Information of the HKOC Championships 2004-2005).  Due to the large number of competitors in class H21, the course will be splitted into two parallel classes of H21-1 and H21-2.

Starting Procedure

All competitors and team officials must report at the Hall by 13:30 with all the necessary competition equipment ready.

 

Competitors will be lead to the Pre-Start at 14:30 and keep in there until start.

 

Please put on number cloth in front of chest and have compass and electronic control card ready.  Only competitors who have all these equipment are allowed to start.  It is recommended to bring along with a whistle for safety purpose.

 

A “2-minute zone” system will be used at Start. The time shown at Start is Entry Time. Please enter the first box of the “2-minute zone”.

 

Enter the last box 1 minute before start. Place the electronic control card on “start unit” at the same time.

 

Competitors may start and take map only after hearing the last beep.  It is the responsibility of the competitor to check if the he/she gets the correct map before leaving the Start.

 

Competitors taking wrong maps will be disqualified.

 

Latecomers must report to the officials at Start.  They will be arranged to start at the late starting line.  The time lost will not be compensated.

It takes about 20 minutes to walk from Event Centre to Start.  The distance is about 600 m with ascent 100 m.  Signs will be put along the way

 

Please arrive 5 minutes prior to start time.

Please pin your number cloth in front of your clothes and have your watch, compass and electronic control card ready.  Competitors not having any of the above-mentioned items are not allowed to start. It is recommended to bring along with a whistle for safety purpose.

 

Make sure you have cleared the old records at the Start Unit before entering the Start Area. Red flashes indicate successful clearance.

 

Competitors may pick up the map only after hearing the last beep. It is your responsibility to check the information on the map, and to make sure it is the right class and leg. Those who take the wrong maps will be disqualified.  Follow the tapes to the Start Triangle.  Competitors are not allowed to linger in the area between the Start and the Start Triangle.

 

Latecomers must follow the instructions of Start Officials and wait at the Latecomer Area.  They have to undergo the usual checking procedure. Time lost will not be compensated. Punctual competitors will be served first, hence, the actual start time of latecomers may be postponed. Complaints made related to such postponement will not be handled.

 

HANDOVER – The official will announce by broadcasting and by listing on boards, the passing of each competitors at the Radio Station. After finishing the last control, competitors must follow tapes at Event Centre for the Handover Area. Offenders will be disqualified, no records will be displayed.

Finishing Procedure and Result Processing

Competitors must report to Finish within the course time limit whether he/she completes the course or not.

 

At finish, “punch” the electronic control card at the “finish unit”, that time will be recorded as finish time.

 

Maps will not be collected at Finish.  However, finishers should not disclose it to competitors waiting for start.

 

After crossing the finish line, proceeds towards the end of the finish chute immediately to avoid congestion at Finish. Please queue up and hand in your back-up label according to the finishing order before leaving the finish area.

 

Result processing counter is located at Event Centre.

 

Competitors are advised to process results at their earliest convenience.  Competitors bear their own responsibility if there is any damage or data lost during the way back to Event Centre.

 

All the finishers must stay at the rest area until the competition closed.

Competitors must report to Finish within the course time limit whether he/she completes the course or not.

 

At finish, “punch” the electronic control card at the “finish unit”, that time will be recorded as finish time.

 

Maps will not be collected at Finish.  However, finishers should not disclose it to competitors waiting for start.
